Winter Wine Dinner Series - Journey Wines

From the lauded floors of iconic Sydney restaurants (Tetsuya’s of Rozelle and Pier at Rose Bay) to the green pastures of Oregon, USA, Damian North’s career in wine has been full tilt from day one. Having begun his career as a sommelier in Sydney, Damian soon realised his passion for wine extended beyond curation, and into creation. Damian studied winemaking at Charles Sturt University before moving to the Yarra Valley where he spent a number of years as assistant winemaker at TarraWarra Estate. His love for pinot noir lured him to the evergreen slopes of Oregon, where he set-up home with his wife and two children for three years making nothing but pinot noir at the renowned Benton-Lane Winery. After a remarkable few years in America, the allure of Chardonnay carried him to internationally renowned winery Leeuwin Estate in Margaret River, WA. Five years making wine at Leeuwin Estate took Damian’s wine making to a whole new level.

Having always dreamt of starting his own label, Damian returned to the Yarra Valley where he launched Journey Wines, sourcing exceptional fruit from vineyards throughout the Yarra Valley and Heathcote. We are now lucky to have him at No.7 Healesville as chief mentor for our Young Wine Makers Program and running our Coterie Vintage Membership program.

Our head chef will be dishing up a delicious four-course banquet meal reflecting the best our region has to offer. Each dish will be paired with wine from Journey Wines, with Damian on-hand to talk through each drop!

$85 for Coterie members / $95 for non Coterie members. Book now.

Friday Night Live: JESS LOCKE

Massive news to come out of the No.7 boardroom is the announcement that Melbourne based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JESS LOCKE will be gracing the Friday Night Live stage for a short run of two shows (July 26th and August 2nd).

“Jess Locke has been known to make people waltz, cry and fall asleep. While the obvious comparisons have frequently been made with Cat Power, Laura Marling and Elliott Smith, these artists are a point of departure for her, rather than an end to be matched. Stylistically, Locke's work could be called folk, anti-folk, pop, indie, acoustic or lo-fi. However, it's her skill as a songwriter and her understated yet intense live performance that makes her a notable artist. Both lyrically and sonically, Locke oscillates between feelings of fundamental loneliness and humble connectivity, between sublime and mundane pleasures, between big words and profanity”. - Triple J

We’re delighted to play host to Jess, and heavily recommend you swing down for it!
